Tigers minor league report: July 12

Here’s a look at how the Tigers’ affiliates fared Saturday.

TRIPLE-A
INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE – TOLEDO 10, PAWTUCKET 5: Catcher James McCann stretched his hitting streak to eight games, going 4-for-5 with two doubles,  two RBIs and scored three runs, while Ezequiel Carrera had three hits and an RBI to lead the Mud Hens (47-50). Corey Knebel struck out three in 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to earn the win.

DOUBLE-A
EASTERN LEAGUE – BINGHAMTON 9, ERIE 3: Binghamton scored five runs in the ninth (four earned) off reliever Jose Valdez to break open a close game and post the win. First baseman Corey Jones had a double and two RBIs and third baseman Francisco Martinez was 2-for-4 with a double and run scored for the SeaWolves (44-50).

SINGLE-A
FLORIDA STATE LEAGUE – ST. LUCIE 5, LAKELAND 4 (10 innings): Nate Fury’s wild pitch with one out in the 10th inning led to St. Lucie scoring the game-winning run. Lakeland (47-41) sent the game to extra innings on catcher Austin Green’s solo homer with two outs in the ninth. First baseman James Robbins had a three-run homer for the Flying Tigers, while outfielder Andy Dirks was 1-for-4 with two strikeouts in his latest rehab game.

MIDWEST LEAGUE – WEST MICHIGAN 2, DAYTON 0: Austin Kubitza and a pair of relievers combined to help the Whitecaps to the shutout win. Kubitza struck out six and allowed just four hits in five innings while moving to 8-1 on the season. Scott Sitz followed by striking out three in three innings and Julio Felix fanned two as part of a perfect ninth to record the save. Left fielder Raph Rhymes had two hits and Austin Schotts had a hit, walk and scored both runs for West Michigan (54-38 overall, 13-9 second half).
