Tigers minor league report: July 21

Here’s a look at how the Tigers’ affiliates fared Monday.

TRIPLE-A
INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE – NORFOLK 2, TOLEDO 1: Xavier Paul was hit by a Daniel Schlereth pitch in the bottom of the eighth inning to plate the go-ahead run for Norfolk in their victory over the Mud Hens (52-52). Tyler Collins was 2-for-4 for Toledo, which had just four hits and had their five-game winning streak halted.

DOUBLE-A
EASTERN LEAGUE – ERIE 5, READING 4: Third baseman Francisco Martinez reached on an error, stole two bases before scoring the go-ahead run on Craig Albernaz’s ground out in the seventh inning to help lift the SeaWolves (49-53). Dixon Machado was 3-for-3 with a solo home run and two RBIs, while Martinez scored two runs and drove one in and Jason Krizan had two doubles for Erie. Kenny Faulk pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings of relief to earn the win.

SINGLE-A
FLORIDA STATE LEAGUE – LAKELAND VS. JUPITER: Game was postponed by rain.

MIDWEST LEAGUE – WEST MICHIGAN 2, BURLINGTON 0: Kevin Ziomek struck out a career-high 11 and allowed just three hits while tossing seven scoreless innings to earn his eighth win and lead the Whitecaps (60-40, 19-11 second half). Adam Ravenelle, who was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the fourth round of this year’s MLB First-Year Player draft after helping Vanderbilt win the national title, tossed two scoreless innings and struck out three to pick up the save. First baseman Dominic Ficociello and catcher Grayson Greiner each drove in runs during the fourth inning for the Whitecaps.
