INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE – NORFOLK 3, TOLEDO 2: Third baseman Mike Hessman hit a solo home run in the ninth inning, but the Mud Hens (52-54) fell short in their comeback. Hessman, whose homer was his 18th of the season, had two of the five hits for Toledo, while catcher James McCann drove in the other run. Mud Hens starter Duane Below gave up eight hits and three runs (two earned) in seven innings while taking the loss.

EASTERN LEAGUE – ERIE 6, READING 1: Jake Thompson allowed just one run and five hits in five innings to pick up his first Double-A victory hours before finding out he was part of the Detroit Tigers’ trade to the Texas Rangers for reliever Joakim Soria. Outfielder Jason Krizan was 4-for-4 with two runs, a walk and an RBI, while outfielder Steven Moya was 2-for-4 and hit his 25th home run of the season for Erie (50-54). Second baseman Devon Travis added a two-run home run and first baseman Aaron Westlake was 3-for-5 with a double for the SeaWolves.
SINGLE-A
FLORIDA STATE LEAGUE – JUPITER 5, LAKELAND 2: Catcher Austin Green had a two-run homer in the opening inning to account for all the scoring by the Flying Tigers in their loss. Second baseman Harold Castro finished 3-for-4 and outfielder Connor Harrell was 2-for-4 with a double for Lakeland (49-49). Reliever Nate Fury gave up an unearned run in 1 1/3 innings of work and suffered the loss.
MIDWEST LEAGUE – CLINTON 4, WEST MICHIGAN 2: Right fielder Wynton Bernard and catcher Grayson Greiner were each 2-for-4 with a double for the Whitecaps (60-41, 19-12 second half) in the loss. Starter Chad Green struck out four and allowed just two runs in five innings while suffering the loss.
